Zbig
Rybczynski was
born in Poland in 1949 and has been working as a film director in Europe
and the United States since the early 1970s. His films are visually sophisticated
marvels of computer animation, technical ingenuity, and wit. He has been
called a Renaissance man of the nineties for the way he integrates art,
science, and technology. His work has received many prestigious industry
awards in the United States, Japan, and Europe. Besides the Oscar for TANGO
and the Emmy for THE ORCHESTRA, Rybczynski has won countless awards, including
the Prix Italia and the Golden Gate Award in San Francisco. He has taught
cinematography at the Film School in Lodz, Poland, electronic filmmaking
at Columbia University, and experimental film at the Academy of Media Arts
in Cologne, Germany. A pioneer in the development of HDTV, Rybczynski currently
lives in Los Angeles, where he works for the Ultimatte Corporation as a
member of their R&D team, and runs his own company, Zbig Vision Ltd.,
which he founded in 1985 for research, development, and production of visual
arts. |
